Walt Whitman Lamplighter Awarded Full Scholarship for Summer Internship

Congratulations to Daniel Alvarez Nunez who was awarded a full scholarship to Studio School of Design's High School Workshop for Developing Advanced Lighting Skills hosted by The New York Center for Creativity and Dance in New York, NY. Dan will learn from professionals in the field of theatre and dance lighting for one week and see the legendary dance company Pilobolus, known for their intricate lighting, and the Broadway show Buena Vista Social Club, as part of his training.
Dan is a member of Walt Whitman High School's Lamplighters organization that runs the sound, lighting and stage crew for all events from Board Meetings to large scale productions that occur in the Performing Arts Center. Dan's application with a portfolio of images demonstrating his talent for lighting theatre and dance productions and a recommendation from Dr. Susan T. Radin, who has worked with Dan for two years on multiple productions, gained him acceptance into this prestigious program.
Dan exemplifies the extraordinary initiative and technical expertise of the students in the Lamplighters organization coordinated by Mr. Vito Monti. Dan has learned from professional lighting and sound designers and teaches himself in his spare time. Dan's special skill set has made him invaluable to Whitman's Performing Arts Center! He is humble, kind and always helpful. He is tenacious when it comes to resolving problems and producing performances to meet his high standards.
