It was an emotional and inspiring evening as Walt Whitman High School held its annual Senior Awards ceremony at the PAC on June 11th. This year, 56 outstanding seniors were presented with local scholarships, thanks to the incredible generosity, spirit, and heart of our South Huntington community.

These awards are funded by local civic organizations, businesses, dedicated alumni, and loving families who establish scholarships in memorial to cherished individuals who have passed.

Students apply for the various scholarships through the Guidance Department, writing thoughtful essays and answering deep questions to demonstrate why they are uniquely qualified for each specific award. Several scholarships go to students following a specific path including education, health and medicine, the visual and performing arts, and those proudly choosing to pursue a trade at a technical school.

The South Huntington School District wishes to extend our most profound thanks to the community. Your overwhelming outpouring of support ensures that our graduates are not only celebrated for their high school achievements, but are also deeply supported as they step out into the world to pursue their dreams.
