A Celebration of Creativity at South Huntington's Festival of the Arts 2026

This year’s South Huntington Festival of the Arts was a wonderful showcase of our district’s talented students. Parents and community members enjoyed a beautiful afternoon filled with incredible music, art, poetry, and live performances on May 19, 2026.
Inside the South Cafeteria of Walt Whitman High School, guests walked through a gallery of artwork created by students from all grade levels. They were also treated to performances by several groups including the Whitman Chorale, Oakwood’s Theatre program, Maplewood Chorus, and readings of original poetry by students Monica Katwala, Isabella David, and Anna Braglia. The Vicki L. Dollin Art Gallery, inside Walt Whitman High School, also featured impressive artwork by our high school upperclassmen enrolled in Whitman’s AP Studio in Art and Art Portfolio classes.
The outdoor performances featured a wide variety of student groups, including Walt Whitman’s dancers, and Stimson’s new Dance program in collaboration with Whitman’s Chamber Orchestra. The courtyard gave everyone plenty of space, fresh air, and sunshine to enjoy the live performances.
A big thank you goes to our amazing teachers, administrators, and student artists for putting together such a spectacular event. We especially want to thank Mr. Matthew Hoffman, the Music, Art & Dance Chairperson, and Mr. Greg Modelewski, for coordinating all the performances, and the Facilities Department for their hard work in setting up the festival. Congratulations to everyone who helps keep the arts alive and well in South Huntington!
One of the outdoor performances featured Stimson’s new Dance program, as dancers performed to Eleanor Rigby in collaboration with Walt Whitman’s Chamber Orchestra.
