BOE President Mr. Nicholas Ciappetta Honored with 2026 SAANYS Friend of Education Award
We are proud to congratulate Mr. Nicholas Ciappetta, President of the Board of Education for the South Huntington Union Free School District, on being named the recipient of the 2026 SAANYS Friend of Education Award. This distinguished honor is presented to an individual, group, or organization that has demonstrated a sustained commitment to supporting and advancing exceptional public education for the students of New York State. Mr. Ciappetta has dedicated more than two decades of service to the South Huntington community, including the past nine years as Board President. His leadership reflects an unwavering commitment to expanding academic opportunities, strengthening partnerships between schools and the community, and ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education.
A hallmark of Mr. Ciappetta’s leadership is his emphasis on visibility, recognition, and meaningful community engagement. He believes that meeting the needs of all stakeholders requires an active and consistent presence, which is evident through his regular attendance at school events ranging from athletic competitions to academic celebrations. His belief that schools should serve as a source of community pride and connection is evident in all that he does. In addition, he consistently ensures that the accomplishments of both students and staff are recognized by the Board of Education, reinforcing that their hard work and dedication are valued and appreciated.
