2024-25 Year End Wrap-Up

The summer graduation parties are underway across South Huntington as our graduates - on various levels - celebrate their accomplishments of the last school year and get ready for a new school year in a new school! There were June ceremonies and celebrations for our high school graduates, as well as our Pre-K, primary, intermediate, and middle school students.
Stimson, Birchwood, and Maplewood all held moving up ceremonies packed with family, friends, teachers, and administrators to wish them well as they make the big move to their next level of education. It will be a new school year full of new policies, procedures, and experiences for our Stimson 8th graders starting high school at Walt Whitman, and our 5th grade students from Birchwood and Maplewood come together at the Silas Wood Sixth Grade Center with the opportunity to meet a fresh crop of new friends from the intermediate school they didn’t attend. They’ll all learn alongside each other about the new world of middle school.
Stimson held its moving up ceremony in Whitman’s North Gym on June 26th. Walt Whitman also hosted the intermediate schools’ moving up celebrations in the PAC. Birchwood’s celebration was held on June 24th, and Maplewood congratulated its 5th graders on June 25th.
As South Huntington’s second graders move on to third grade in their new intermediate school in September, our primary schools held special events to wish them well. Maplewood held a picnic on school grounds with food, games, and a DJ. Oakwood had outdoor fun at its second grade picnic with beach chairs, blankets, and a bouncy house.
And to wish Silas Wood sixth graders the best of luck as they head to Stimson in the fall, the sixth grade center held its annual luau at Silas Wood on June 16th!
So there was a lot to celebrate at the end of the 2024-2025 school year and lots of different ways to do it! We wish all of our students the best of luck as they take this big next step in their academic journey! Have a safe and happy summer!
