Walt Whitman High School's Principal's List 2025

Congratulations to the 154 seniors who were named to the 2025 Principal’s List during a beautiful dinner and ceremony in the South Gym on Friday, May 16th. Twenty-eight years ago, the Principal’s List was created to honor those Walt Whitman graduates at the top of the class, recognize their extra-curricular involvement and service, superior character, and outstanding academic performance.
To be chosen for this prestigious recognition, a student must achieve an overall 94.9% grade point average during their four years at Walt Whitman High School. While the list is reserved only for those respected students who have strived for academic excellence, it also serves to encourage the student body as a whole, to push themselves and strive for greatness. The names of each year’s class of Principal’s List members are printed on a plaque and posted in the high school as a permanent honor of this extraordinary achievement, and seen by future students who pass through the halls as a reminder of what they can attain.
“This honor reflects your hard work, resilience, and commitment to excellence throughout your years here at Whitman,” Walt Whitman High School Principal John Murphy expressed to over 150 of this year’s award recipients and their families. “Let me be clear, this is no ordinary accomplishment. If it was that easy, everyone would be on this list. To earn this distinction means you’ve consistently chosen perseverance over comfort, focus over distraction, and purpose over ease. You’ve poured countless hours into your studies and met all challenges with determination. This recognition is the result of a journey filled with effort, growth, and personal triumph.”
We are confident these students will continue to excel long after graduation. We wish the very best for them in all their future endeavors, knowing they will make a positive mark on the world.
