Mrs. Shikarides, a literacy and English teacher at Stimson Middle School, is proud to recognize her eighth and seventh graders whose writing will be published in the Young Writers Contest collection.
Young Writers is a family-run business established in 1991. Their ethos emphasizes the importance of young writers to read and write with a focus on poetry and creative writing. Young Writers believe published work “boosts confidence, nurtures creative talent and showcases creativity.”
The Young Writers Contest theme this year was “Unsolved,” where students were asked to write a mini saga following the genres of crime and mystery.
The students’ pieces will be published into the collection, and they will be able to revise their work prior to publication after receiving feedback.
There were six eighth-grade winners from Mrs. Shikarides’ third period Literacy Support class, including Meghan Roth, Natalia Morales, Jason Diaz, Josh Evans, Kaitlynn Wilson and Katie Lazo.
There were also fourteen seventh-grade winners from her second period English Honors Research class, including Alex Gizzi, Maeve O’Connor, Sydney Henkel, Timmy Treubig, Xavier Keith, Miles Berman, Priscilla Kenny, Ryan Tabibzada, Jacobo Ramirez, Andie DeVinney, Christopher Ortega, Daniel Cotsalas, Ella Brenner and Hayli Wuss.
Congratulations to these students on their outstanding achievement!
