On Sunday, November 28th, South Huntington hosted another wonderful Winter Wonderland that brought the spirit of the holiday season to the district children, families, and all those involved in making this day such a success. With over 600 people joining in this new favorite holiday tradition, it is no secret that numerous parents, staff members, and students were impressed by Stimson Middle School’s decorated halls and holiday activities put together by our staff and volunteers. The event gave district children of all ages the opportunity to sing songs, create holiday cards, and enjoy hot chocolate and decorating gingerbread cookies in honor of this special season. This year featured new activities including snow inflatables, petting zoo, ice skating rink and more! Students and their families had the chance to have their photo taken with Santa, our brightly lit Menorah, and winter-themed backgrounds created by the Art Honor Society as a way of remembering this joyful event and celebrating the holiday season.
We would like to thank the numerous faculty and staff members who dedicated their time to this special event, and are particularly grateful to SEPTA, as well as our Latino Heritage Club, Art Honor Society, Girls Leaders Organization, and Huntington Muslim Youth Group for the countless hours that they spent preparing the Wonderland and entertaining our youngest district students. It is amazing to note what can be accomplished when great teachers, administrators, staff, and students are given the room they need to create something special.
Following the day’s festivities, everyone was invited to join us in our Christmas tree lighting and Menorah recognition, bringing light to this tradition and embracing the holiday spirit as a tight-knit community.
