Weekend Recap

Congratulations to the following Whitman Teams:

The Varsity Football team clinched its 1st League title since 1984 with a huge 35-14 win over Lindenhurst yesterday! Nicholas Bottoni connected with Brandon Ivy for 2 long touchdown passes to lead the offense.  Bottoni, AJ Evans, and Tim Hunter each added rushing touchdowns.  Ivy had 2 interceptions and Hunter 1 for Whitman’s swarming defense that was led by Diego Romero, Rasahn Thompson, Liam Villanti, Sean Bock, Jeremyah St. Croix, and Jakub Pipota.  Jakub forced and recovered a fumble on Lindy’s first play of the game. Josh Arevalo went a perfect 5 for 5 on extra points. The Team will host their first home playoff game in almost 40 years as they take on Longwood Saturday. Great job by all!

The Boys Varsity Soccer team ended the regular season with a 4-0 victory over Pat-Med.  Richard Morel scored 2 first-half goals.  The prettiest goal of the day was a Wilmer Flores cross to Dylan Thody who converted the header for the 3rd goal.  Juan Chamorro finished the scoring for the Wildcats.  Josh Arevalo and Victor Vilorio chipped in with assists.  Liam Weigele, Franklin Fuentes, and Josh Fitzpatrick combined to make 4 saves to preserve the shutout.  The Wildcats' record is 8-4 heading into the 1st round of the playoffs on Thursday.
