Senior student-athlete Gianna Paul and Athletic Director David Barth went to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ recently to attend the official unveiling of the Spring High School Girls Flag Football League sponsored by the NY Jets and The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). The season will begin in April 2022 and will include an 8 game regular season schedule culminating in a Suffolk County and Long Island Championship! Included in this event was a panel discussion with various women employees from the NY Jets and the NFL to celebrate National Women and Sports day. Walt Whitman High School is just 1 of 8 schools in Section XI who will be providing the opportunity to play this Spring. We are so excited to be on the ground level of this new league! As part of the announcement, the Jets and Nike hosted one player from each new team at MetLife Stadium for a surprise uniform reveal in the Jets locker room.
