National Merit

Semifinalists Announced

Principal of WWHS, Mr. Costa (left), and Assistant Principal of Guidance, Mr. Blair (right), congratulate seniors Ira Dubey and Joshua Alms for qualifying as Semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. High school students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Congratulations to Whitman seniors Joshua Alms and Ira Dubey who have qualified as Semifinalists!

Joshua and Ira are two of approximately 16,000 high school seniors that have qualified as Semifinalists. They have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships to be offered next spring, so stay tuned to find out if Whitman’s outstanding students advance to finalist standings.

Congratulations and good luck, Ira and Joshua!
