Walt Whitman High School was proud to recognize our graduating athletes recently at the first annual College Athletics Commitment Ceremony. Seniors who have committed to play their designated sport at the next level of their educational careers deserve to be recognized and we were fortunate to honor 38 of Whitman’s athletes at the special ceremony.
The evening served as a time to acknowledge each individual senior as they prepare to take the next step in their athletic careers. Each student commemorated their moment of recognition by signing their letters of intent with much excitement in front of their friends, teammates, coaches, and families.
Their time spent playing for Walt Whitman will not be remiss as they each reflected on what the best part of Walt Whitman and the South Huntington School District was for them. Senior Gianna Paul, who will be attending the University of Alabama to play Division I Soccer, shared “the true family aspect of the school and the district itself,” was the best part about South Huntington for her. “Regardless of the sport, regardless of the team, or regardless of the level, you can always anticipate the district and school to put 100% of their support in. It’s admirable and it is my favorite part of living in this town and attending this school. You won’t find administrators who care more about their students than at Whitman.”
Congratulations and best of luck to each of our senior athletics as they continue to play and make our district proud!
