Whitman Artists Featured

in High Arts Showcase

Congratulations to our students; Carlos Alfaro, Nicholas Campanelli, Ashlin Hanley, Jessica Mangels, Daniella Padinha, and Paul Smitelli, whose artworks have been selected to be exhibited at the High Arts Showcase, hosted by the Huntington Arts Council!

All students were given the opportunity to create original artworks in each of their art classes. The works ranged from oil on canvas and oil pastels, to mixed media and photography. Participating students from Ms. Tinucci, Ms. Raji, and Mr. Rickmer’s classes had the unique experience of having their works be featured in the prestigious exhibit, many of which for the first time in their creative careers. Being recognized in this setting truly gives these students the opportunity to see their work in a new light that opens them to future opportunities for inspiration.

High Arts Showcase XVII is a component of the JOURNEY Arts in Education Program providing 11th and 12th-grade students with the opportunity to present their talents in a gallery setting through this exclusive visual art exhibition. Participating school districts include:

Cold Spring Harbor Jr/Sr High School, Commack High School, Harborfields High School, Huntington High School, Kings Park High School, Northport High School, Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School, and Walt Whitman High School.

The High Arts Showcase exhibit will be up from March 19th - April 10th at the Main Street Gallery in Huntington Village. The gallery is open to the general public, Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. To view the exhibit on the Huntington Arts Council’s website click here. To view the artist booklet click here.
