Fall Sports Recap


  • Girls Varsity Soccer upset the #6 seed Sachem North by a score of 3-1.  Gianna Paul scored 2 goals and Brittany Delao added one.  Lizzie Schrieber, Kayla McCann, Kallie Eichner, Mel Smuss, Brittany Cisneros and Ella Brower played solid defense.  Ashli Wuss made 5 saves to secure the victory.  The Team moves on to the next round Thursday to play Smithtown West.
  • Boys Varsity Soccer Team is in the first round of the playoffs at rival Huntington on Tuesday, at 2pm.  Please travel down the road to Huntington to support the Wildcats!

  • Varsity Football capped off a great Homecoming Week with a huge 34-14 win over Commack!  Nicholas Bottoni went 13/20 for 305 yards and 3 TD passes with a TD run! Brandon Ivy had 7 catches for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns and Tyriek Mays-Mckoy had 4 catches for 93 yards and a TD!  Rasahn Thompson had 2 big interceptions on D!  His first led to a Johnny Maldonado TD run!  Luke Kannavos led the way on defense, racking up 11 tackles and 2 sacks!  Whitman’s O-Line protected Bottoni all night and opened up holes for AJ Evans!  The Team is now 7-0 with 1 regular season game left and would like to thank the whole school community for all of its support!

  • Over the weekend, the Field Hockey team defeated Smithtown West in a 1st round playoff game 3-1.  Scoring for Whitman were Mia Brunetti with 2 goals and Kristy Chillemi with one.  Brianna Morrissey, Shaelyn Scharpf, Morgan Fulcher, Angela Shedlow and Sydney Cusack played excellent defense.  Jillian Vesque had 7 saves to secure the win.  Whitman faces Ward Melville Thursday at 2pm in the quarterfinals.

  • Varsity Gymnastics competed in its last league meet of the season. The girls had a successful meet with standout performances by Carly McEntee, Emily Gorecki and Jordyn Nicholls. Julia Dean, Ava Colbert and Brielle Browne put in 110% to their routines. Thank you to Meghan Murray for supporting your teammates and for all her help at the Meet. Good luck to those girls competing in this weekend's Coaches Invitational Meet.
  • Girls Varsity Swim placed 4th in the League 1 Swimming and Diving Championship. Senior captain Bianca Santaromana captured 3 medals in the 200, 400, and Medley Relay. Venus Stewart scored a personal best in Diving. Isabelle Alvear and Maya Wedner swam backstroke. Catherine Muller swam the 500 freestyle. Good luck at Counties ladies!

  • Varsity Gymnastics Team members Carly McEntee and Jordyn Nicholls qualified for the Suffolk County Individual County meet.  Carly will compete on floor exercise and Jordyn will compete on vault.  Good luck next Friday ladies!
  • Boys Varsity Volleyball swept Shoreham last night by a score of 3 sets to 0.  Joe D'Agostino had 21 assists, 1 ace and 7 digs.  Declan Hill had 4 kills and 1 block.
  • Girls Cross Country did an excellent job yesterday at the Divisional Meet at Sunken Meadow. The challenging 5K meet was met with phenomenal efforts and excellent performances. Captain Emma Kowalczyk qualified for the County meet with a course time of 22:21. Also performing well were: Liana Dreusike, Captain Alyssa Katwala, Lauren Knudsen, Getsemani Ayala Najera, Cindy Chen, Sophie Porter, Sthefany Estrada Acajabon, Brooke Tavera, Marilyn Santamaria Galdamez, Vianna Tumbarello and Joslyn Torres.  Coach Kazandjian is extremely proud of how far this team has come this season and is looking forward to their continued development.
  • Boys Cross Country competed in the Division championships.  The Varsity improved its 5-man average and qualified for the County championships.  Ryan Hill led the Team with a Sunken Meadow 5K time of 18:23.  Ryan Hansen was right behind with a personal best time.  Sophomore John Adams was 3rd for Whitman and also ran a personal best.
