Fall Sports Recap

With their win over Ward Melville last Saturday, the Wildcats head into tomorrow's Homecoming game undefeated.


  • Varsity Football had a thrilling 41-35 win over a very tough Ward Melville team!  AJ Evans led the way on the ground behind Whitman’s O-Line of Logan Elmore, Diego Romero, Liam Villanti, Xavier Ali and Belengjy Geneus, with 12 carries for 123 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns! Johnny Maldonado added 7 carries for 59 yards and a TD! Nicholas Bottoni went 6/7 for 101 yards and two huge TD passes, one a 30 yarder to Brandon Ivy and one a 29 yarder to Tyriek Mays-Mckoy! Tyriek had 3 catches for 43 yards and some big hits on defense. Jacob Somer had 19 tackles and Rasahn Thompson had key plays on D to seal the win! Adam Arevalo had 5 extra points for the team who is now 6-0 heading into Homecoming!

  • The Robocats would like to congratulate Senior Tyler Ritchie who just became Champion of the Champ Kart Flathead 400 class at Poughkeepsie Raceway.
  • Varsity Gymnastics won their meet against Copiague with some stellar performances! Brielle Browne's score on Floor went up over 1/2 a point. Julia Dean has shown her hard work and determination. Carly McEntee continues to strive for her goals taking 1st on the Balance Beam and the Floor Exercise. Kate Adams took 1st on the Uneven Bars with a stunning routine. Jordyn Nicholls impressed the judges and took 1st on Vault.
  • Girls Varsity Volleyball defeated Longwood Monday night 3 games to 1 to clinch a playoff berth.  The team played great defense all night and had some timely hitting and serving to earn the victory.
  • Whitman Golf's Top 6 headed to Spring Lake Golf Club in Middle Country for the League qualifier on Monday.  Senior Chris Bonilla and Junior Nick Abrescia executed their highest scores of the season.  Senior Will Schiller's efforts helped keep the Wildcats chances alive.  Senior Owen Connolly and Junior Colin Murphy's dedication and preparation for this tournament was definitely reflective in their scores, as both made the cutoff for the individual qualifier and opened the door to the possibility of the Wildcats qualifying as a team. Then it was up to Senior Jonathon Holleran, whose performance was absolutely amazing.  Jonathon ended up in third place.  Good Luck Wildcats next Monday at Smithtown Landing at the County Tournament.  This will be the first time the Golf Team will be competing as a team in the County Finals in consecutive seasons.
  • Chelsea Carino of the Varsity Girls Tennis Team won two matches at the Division Individual Tournament Friday, which advanced her into the County Tournament this weekend.  With those two wins, Chelsea reached 40 career Varsity wins.  Good luck!
  • Girls JV Volleyball capped off a great season with a win over Longwood.  The Team finished with an incredible 16-1 record.
  • JV girls soccer played a great game against a strong Sachem East team.  Olivia Nichols scored a goal before Sachem answered with their own goal. The Wildcats held on to a 1-1 tie with the help of Kiki Taylor who played lights out in net.


  • Boys Varsity Volleyball upset Westhampton Beach Tuesday night in a thrilling 5-set match by the score of 3 to 2.  Ryan Davis, Joe D'Agostino and Ben D'Agostino played crucial roles in the victory.  The boys senior night and last home game is Thursday at 6pm against West Islip.  Great job and good luck.
  • Boys Cross Country ran a great race against Bay Shore.  A large majority of the team ran personal bests on the Sunken Meadow 2.5 mile course including John Marr, Pratyush Das, and Matt Cashman.
  • Boys Varsity Soccer ended the regular season with a 2-0 shutout over Ward Melville.  Angel Catalan headed in a direct kick from Steven Flores in the 38th minute to get the Wildcats on the board.  Ben Koch netted the insurance goal with 5 minutes left off a pass from JP Paiva.  Kevin Rankel played stellar defense at center back.  Joe Rodriguez made 3 saves to preserve the shutout.  The Team is awaiting the release of the playoff bracket on Friday.  The Wildcats play their first round game on Tuesday.


  • Girls JV Soccer ended its season with a 1-1 tie against North Babylon. Alexa Schindler scored the only goal while Kiki Taylor once again made amazing saves in net. Our defense consisting of Courtney Magee, Katie Guttler, Angie Fuentes and Dakota Madrid was fantastic! The team had a successful overall season record of 7-5-2.


  • The Challenger Soccer won its second game of the season 7-6 Thursday afternoon. Goals were scored by Laura Cruz, Alvin Yam and Maryam Malik. Great job!
  • Varsity Gymnastics won the last home league meet on Thursday against Lindenhurst. Carly McEntee took 1st on the balance beam and the floor exercise and had an amazing Senior meet. Emily Gorecki impressed the judges and all in the gym with her stunning performances on the floor exercise and on the balance beam. Thank you to Becca Horner and Meghan Murray for all of their help with the pep rally and their Senior meet. Freshman Kate Adams took 1st on the uneven bars and 2nd on the vault.

  • Girls Varsity Swim wrapped up the regular season with a 97-87 loss to Connetquot. The swimmers were led by seniors Aby Velasquez and Bianca Santaromana.  Good luck at the League championship!

  • At the Boys Varsity Volleyball senior game Thursday night, the boys beat West Islip 3 sets to 1. Coach Patto and Coach Biancamano would like to congratulate seniors Michael Emmanuele, Danny Schlansky, Liam Murphy, Anthony Carino, Ben D'Agostino, Ryan Davis, and Tyler Phillips on an amazing season so far. You've left a positive impact on the program which will be felt for years to come.
