Fall Sports Recap

Monday

  • Varsity Football shutout Bay Shore 48-0!  The Team set school records for points in a quarter with 42 in the first and for defensive touchdowns with 4!  Tyriek Mays-Mckoy had fumble recovery and punt return touchdowns on back to back drives!  The defense had a 41-yard interception TD return from Rasahn Thompson and a 32-yard interception TD from Brandon IvyAJ Evans had two rushing touchdowns and Cameron Carlson added his first career varsity touchdown!  The Team improved to 5-0 with 3 shutouts in 5 games!  Come Saturday at 2pm as we take on Ward Melville in the Pink Out game!

  • The Boys Varsity Soccer Team defeated Lindenhurst on Saturday 3-2. Ben Koch got the Wildcats on the board with a rebound goal in the 1st half. Angel Catalan converted a penalty kick for the 2nd goal. David Lazaro netted the eventual game-winner off an assist from Koch to end the scoring. Joe Rodriguez made 6 saves to preserve the win. The Boys’ Senior Game is this Friday, on the Turf at 4:15pm.
  • Venus Stewart became the first Whitman female swimmer to compete in an 11 - Dive, County Competition.  Venus scored 321 points and placed 6th overall while setting a new school record!
  • JV Football defeated Bay Shore 28-14 on Saturday to improve its record to 2-3.   Leading the way for the wildcats were Cole Gottesman, Ryan Downs, Dylan Kolmer and Louis Navarro. The next big game is this Friday away at Ward Melville.

Tuesday

  • Boys Cross Country defeated Sachem East 23-38.  Ryan Hill took 1st with a time of 14:44 on the Sunken Meadow 2.5 mile course.  Ryan Hansen took 4th overall with a personal best.
  • Girls Varsity Swim Team defeated Brentwood/Bayshore 98-78. Senior captain Bianca Santaromana placed 1st in the 50 Freestyle.  Venus Stewart scored a personal best in Diving and qualified for Counties!  Isabella Alvear placed 4th in the 200 I.M.  Maya Wednar, Olivia Beck, Melanie Alvarado, Owen Murray, and Ashley Palacios all swam well in the Relay.
  • The Challenger Soccer team had its first game of the season yesterday, defeating Clarke High School.  Goals were scored by Jenny Campos and Laura Serrano Cruz.  Great defense was played by Jennifer Cisneros and Andrew Avilla.  Great  job team!

Wednesday

  • The Boys Varsity Soccer Team defeated Bayshore on Tuesday by the score of 3-2. With the win, the Wildcats clinched a playoff berth for the 10th straight year. Javier Castro got the team on the board in the first minute with a rebound goal. Ben Koch added another rebound goal in the first half. Dylan Thody finished a beautiful through ball from Jack Fallon for the eventual game winner. Joe Rodriguez made 6 saves to preserve the win. Please come out and support the team at their Senior Day game on Friday at 4:15 P.M. against Commack.

Thursday

  • Varsity Gymnastics had a great meet on Thursday with stellar performances. Carly McEntee's scores went up on all 4 events, including a personal best on floor.  Kate Adams had a successful meet adding new skills to her balance beam and floor exercise routines. Emily Gorecki continues to shine, especially on the balance beam and on the floor.  Amazing job to the entire team for a job well done!
  • Girls JV Soccer Team had a decisive win against Newfield. Leading the team with a hat trick was Olivia Nicholls. Both Annelisa Boise and Madison Caiazzo added 2 goals each and Paige Hiller topped off the scoring with another goal. The Team has its last 2 home games Monday and Wednesday.  Come out and support the girls.
  • Congratulations and good luck to our Girls Varsity Field Hockey Seniors who played a tough game against Half Hollow Hills at home on Thursday. We honored Whitman’s 16 seniors before the start of the game. You will be missed!
