The Wildcats had an exciting 28-25 win over the Ward Melville Patriots on Saturday. An interception by Whitman early in the first quarter brought Brandon Ivy to the endzone for the first TD of the game. Wide receiver Rasahn Thompson came through to gain major yardage while Belendjy Geneus made big blocks to keep the Patriots down on their field goal attempts. Heading into the second half down 14-18, Bottoni made a touchdown pass to Kyle Owens in the 3rd. Ward Melville took the ball down the field to start the 4th quarter, leaving the Wildcats down 21-25, but within the final minutes, Whitman had success up the field and Chris Silverio caught a 42-yard pass from Nick Bottoni with 16 seconds left to give the team the lead. The defense was solid all day led by seniors Joe Robert, Sean Bock, Jeremyah St.Croix and Dan Smith, and juniors Liam Villanti and Rashan Thompson. Senior kicker Josh Arevalo went 4 for 4 on extra points. Great game boys! Good luck to the Wildcats as they host Commack on Friday night under the lights at 7 pm.
