Congratulations to our very own Walt Whitman High School student Valeria Bruzual, in becoming the recipient of a new and beautiful violin provided by Bob Murphy’s Violin Shop at Murphy’s Music! For at least 20 years, Bob Murphy’s Violin Shop has been coordinating their violin scholarship program for high school musicians across Long Island. This fall, Valeria Bruzual was the lucky and well deserved recipient of this year’s scholarship. We could not think of a more outstanding and meritorious student for this award.
Valeria is a junior at Walt Whitman High School and has been studying violin for over twelve years. Originally from Venezuela, Valeria practiced with her own violin before immigrating to the United States but has since had to use loaner instruments to continue her passion. With the recommendation of Orchestra Instructor Mr. Frank Yolango, it was an easy decision for him to refer Valeria for this scholarship. “She’s a phenomenal violinist and well-deserving of this recognition,” shared the high school Orchestra Instructor. This scholarship provides Valeria with an instrument she can call her own again and allows her to keep playing as she continues her time as a high school musician and begins her college search. Valeria sees herself studying medicine after graduating from Walt Whitman and knows that she will continue to play music at whichever college or university she attends.
We are incredibly grateful for Bob Murphy’s Violin Shop at Murphy’s Music for continuing to recognize our talented students! Their generosity over the years through this scholarship program continues to support our students who truly deserve the recognition while aiding them the invaluable tools to further their talents and love of music.
