The girls and boys varsity fencing team had a great season. We were lucky to be able to train together for a full season while remaining safe and healthy. They all banned together when spectators were not allowed to cheer one another on. Our girls team put up a good fight at each meet. All our athletes were given an opportunity to get on the strip and experience the fight for great bouts. The boys team had an excellent season; with only a month’s worth of competition, the Boys Fencing team went 6 - 2 this winter, proving to have taken advantage of the modified season. For the first time in the short history of the new Fencing format, the Boys team qualified for the playoffs by securing a 3rd place finish this year. Their drive and fight has paved a way for following seasons to come, proving working together will get the team far. Our sabre squad went roughly 7 and 9 each meet, our foil squad went roughly 4 and 9 each meet and our epee squad went roughly 7 and 9 as well.
This year, we are graduating 5 female athletes; Danielle DeGaray, Juliana Nguyen, Gabby Rows, Kristen Salas and Whitman’s Valedictorian, Jasmine Thai, along with 3 male athletes; Justin Goldberg, Beineon Portmore Davies and John Rodriguez. Good luck to all of our seniors!
