After much anticipation for the return of the annual fifth-grade Mini-thon, this year their timing was perfect. South Huntington's fifth-graders had the opportunity to predict how long it would take to run one mile while enjoying a beautiful and fun morning with friends under the clear, blue sky.
The Mini-thon Prediction was held this past Monday morning on the fields behind the Memorial School Building. It is an annual event for South Huntington’s fifth-graders, coordinated by Birchwood PE Teachers Russell Rufrano and Kim Caracciola. During the event, each runner predicts how long he or she will take to run one mile and the closest prediction is awarded and recognized at their respective 5th-grade graduations. Students practice all year and predict their time before the actual day of the race. What makes the day that much more special is the chance for Birchwood 5th graders to meet other 5th graders from Maplewood Intermediate School, as they prepare to graduate to the Silas Wood 6th Grade Center in the Fall.
Congratulations South Huntington 5th Graders!
