Recognition 2021

Members of the American Legion Post 1244 share their thanks as they congratulate Whitman’s brave young men who have committed to serving in the United States Military.

Congratulations to the seven young men who were celebrated recently at the annual Military Recognition Breakfast. These seven gentlemen have done so many great things while at Walt Whitman High School and are about to go off and do great things while serving our nation.

Terence Carduner and Jude Conway are joining the US Air Force. Matthew Jiminez Bonilla, Daniel Kramer, Kelvin Sanchez Torres, and Deshawn Small will each be joining the US Marines. Nicholas Salas is joining the US Navy.


Every one of these young men are on the road to success as they serve our great nation. These young men are very talented and motivated towards attaining their goals and have sincerely made the district and their families very proud.


Suffolk County Legislator and Chair of the Veterans & Consumer Affairs Committee, Susan Berland, recognized Walt Whitman’s seven young men for making the commitment to serve our country.
