Lupton Pitches

No Hitter

Congratulations to Senior John Lupton who recently threw a no hitter, striking out 15 opponents with only one walked batter in an 11-0 victory over Bay Shore! This is John’s first no hitter for Whitman’s Varsity Baseball team and second overall with Senior Danny Schlansky as catcher during their summer league.

The 2-year Varsity Senior had a feeling early on that he had the game in the bag during the Spring Break match-up against Bayshore. “I went two innings where it was 1-2-3 outs and I had a good rhythm going, and I pitched better in the morning so I had a feeling that I was going to do well,” Lupton shared.

Both of John’s parents witnessed the no hitter with much excitement. “I was nervous for him at first,” shared his proud mother, “but he was very calm on the mound.” Preparing for the game with a clear mindset, on top of having the 11-0 lead early on helped keep his nerves at bay, making the noteable “no hitter'' win that much more celebratory.

Congratulations, John!
