Jennifer Hohner - Stimson's

Teacher of the Year

As stated by her friend and colleague Ms. Kerry Chapman, “There are so many ways to characterize this year’s Stimson Middle School Teacher of the Year, Jennifer Hohner. A consummate professional, she is devoted to providing meaningful and compassionate instruction, deeply appreciated by her colleagues, and one of the hardest working educators in our district.”  If you attended this year’s Homecoming Parade, you may have noticed Jennifer’s Stimson yearbook photo on the “Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat” Stimson float as an alumna.   Fortunately for South Huntington, Jennifer returned to Walt Whitman High School as an English Teacher in 1999.

After twelve successful years at Whitman, Jennifer joined the Stimson Family where she found her true calling as a middle school English teacher.  Last year for Halloween she appropriately dressed up as a “Spelling Bee” a very fitting costume for someone who has volunteered hours of her time administering the Stimson/Silas Spelling Bee. Each year, she conducts the event for students - sending the winner off to the county spelling bee at Hofstra. Jennifer's passion for teaching, kindness, and dedication to her students makes her the perfect choice as Stimson Middle School’s Teacher of the Year.  A special thanks to her husband Kevin, and children, Vanessa and Brendan, for sharing her with us.  Congratulations Ms. Jennifer Hohner. You are so deserving of this recognition and so much more!
