Mrs. Janine D’Elia and Mrs. Elizabeth Weis, Technology Integration Coaches at Maplewood and Birchwood Intermediate Schools, implemented a new Technology Ambassador Program for Grade 5 students this year! The purpose of this new program, they said, “is to spread the word about technology in the school community and cultivate a student environment of exploration, experimentation, and learning for all.” The Tech Ambassadors will learn tips and tricks, basic troubleshooting techniques, and specific educational apps or websites that they will share with their teachers and classmates!
Different from the traditional computer club, this program allows small groups of students to work with our Technology Coaches, Mrs. D'Elia and Mrs. Weis, to focus on specific skills relevant to their current classroom projects as well as topics of personal interest generated by the students. Students will then bring those skills back to their classrooms acting as peer helpers and assisting in their classrooms/teachers and grade levels as peer models.
Prior to earning the title of Technology Ambassador, all students had to submit a digital resume and teacher letter of recommendation via Google Forms. Students also went through the interview process where they highlighted their technological strengths, inspirations, and ideas!
Congratulations to Technology Ambassadors from Maplewood and Birchwood:
