The Girls Basketball team finished their season with a league record of 5 - 1 and tied for first place in League II. The girls were led by Seniors Jenna Stockfeder, who averaged 14 points and 14 rebounds per game, and Dana McGowan, who averaged 12 points per game and shot 45% from the 3-point line. The girls were able to solidify a spot in the Suffolk County Playoffs with a win of 54 - 32 against Ward Melville in the semifinals. This is the first Finals appearance and back-to-back League Titles in over 20 years for the girls! Two of the most significant moments for the team this season were coming back from a 16 point deficit at Sachem North to win 63 - 61 and outscoring Northport 40 - 17 after being down by 10 points. These come-from-behind wins highlight the kind of girls who play basketball at Whitman! Congratulations to Seniors Dana McGowan and Jenna Stockfeder on all of their success on and off the court. Fortunately the future is bright for the Wildcats, as they return 8 players from this year's team. Great season, ladies!
