Varsity Field Hockey vs. Smithtown West

Monday, September 20th

  • Girls Varsity Tennis had a thrilling 4-3 win over Bay Shore on Monday. Singles winners included Chelsea Carino, Liza Gugliuzza, and Natalie Gugliuzza. Doubles winners were Katie Nodell and Carly Mineo. Great job girls!

  • The Girls Varsity Volleyball team defeated Sachem North by the score of 3 sets to 1.  Allie Fink had 10 kills and 10 digs, Mia Stampfel had 11 digs and 2 aces, Judy Anest had 10 kills and Gianna Conte added 3 kills and 2 aces.  Noelle Decker had a huge serving run in the 4th set with 4 aces to put the girls ahead for good.  The Team played great defense all night!

Tuesday, September 21st

  • The Girls Varsity Swim team lost a close Meet to Northport/Commack, 92-82.  Venus Stewart placed 1st in Diving and set a new school record!  Senior Captain, Bianca Santaromana also set a new school record in the 100 Yard Freestyle.  The school record was previously held by Dana Keogler in 2019.

  • The Varsity Gymnastics team did very well in its 2nd Non-League meet against Sachem.  Awesome job by Brielle Browne competing on the Floor for the first time.  Carly McEntee scored 1st on the Floor and Balance Beam.  Kate Adams had a successful meet on all four events.
  • The Girls Cross Country team defeated Riverhead with a final score of 21-42! The 5K meet was held at Indian Island County Park in Riverhead and the win was a collective team effort with excellent performances and encouragement from the following athletes: Captain Emma Kowalczyk, Liana Dreusike, Julia Veeder, Captain Alyssa Katwala, Lauren Knudsen, Getsemani Ayala Najera, Cindy Chen, Sophie Porter, Sthefany Estrada Acajabon, Brooke Tavera, Marilyn Santamaria Galdamez, Vianna Tumbarello, Joslyn Torres, Abigail Brosnan and Manager Maya Biblow.  Coach Kazandjian is extremely proud of how far this team has come this season and is looking forward to even more successes as the season progresses!
  • The Boys Cross Country team defeated Riverhead 46-17.  Leading the Wildcats on the Sunken Meadow 2.5 mile course was Ryan Hill with a time of 15 minutes flat.  Ryan Hansen was right behind with a time of 15:17.  Freshman Sam Lopez took 3rd with a time of 15:19.
  • Girls JV Volleyball continued its undefeated season improving to 8-0.  Megan Rankel had a school record 26 aces to help push the team past Sachem North.  Lindsay Alms had a team high 9 kills followed by Rylee Bert Riordan with 7 kills. Brianna Verga recorded 3 blocks and 4 kills. Riley McDonell had 24 assists and Dani Probst, Juliet Boccia, and Sarah Duffy played excellent defense combining for 16 digs.

Wednesday, September 22nd

  • The Varsity Field Hockey team beat Smithtown West 3-0 at home on Wednesday.  Kristy Chillemi, Charlotte O'Hara and Mia Brunetti scored for Whitman.  Kasey McArdle and Charlotte also had assists.  Shaelyn Scharpf, Brianna Morrissey, Morgan Fulcher and Kristy Chillemi played an excellent game.

  • The Boys Varsity Soccer team defeated Lindenhurst by the score of 2-1. Dylan Thody got the Wildcats on the board off a through-ball from JP Paiva 28 seconds into the game.  Javier Castro headed in a cross from Kelvin Alvarado to make it 2-0.  The Team held on behind 4 saves by Joseph Rodriguez. The back line made up of Alvarado, Jose Bautista, Ryan Gannon, and Kevin Rankel played extremely tough throughout the game. Come support the Team at the home game on Friday against Bayshore at 4pm.
  • The JV Field Hockey team beat Smithtown West 4-1.  Bella Winch scored all 4 goals with assists from Lauren Ottaviano, Anna Isernia, Jess Cristello and Nayira Kabarajian. The Team fought hard and worked together to secure the win! Great game by all!

Thursday, September 23rd

  • Girls Varsity Soccer beat Centereach 3-1. Gianna Paul and Olivia DelPriore each had a goal and an assist.  Brittany Cisneros also added a goal.
  • Boys Varsity Volleyball swept Sayville 3 sets to 0 to improve its overall record to 3-1. Great performances by Danny Schlansky and Patrick Soulias propelled the team to victory.

  • The Varsity Gymnastics team stepped it up in their non-league tri-meet last night showing what teamwork is all about. Awesome job Meghan Murray on bars! Julia Dean improved her score on all 4 events. Ava Colbert and Brielle Browne showed confidence in their events. Emily Gorecki and Carly McEntee also had a successful meet.  Thank you to Becca Horner for all her help. Coach is beyond proud!
  • JV Boys Volleyball defeated Sayville 2 to 1.  The Team was led by Paul Portillo, Damitrae Ellis, Jack Fisher, Kieran Davis and Romel Farquarhson.
  • Girls JV Soccer played an incredible come-from-behind game against Centereach. Trailing 2-0, Madison Caiazzo scored with only 4 mins left in the game.  Alexa Schindler tied the game with less than 2 minutes remaining. In overtime, Annalisa Boise scored the go-ahead goal, and then Olivia Nicholls topped it off with another goal to solidify the win! Come out and support the players at our next home game on Saturday at 10am.
