Fall Post-Season and

Playoff Progress

Though it is early in November, we are still in the midst of our fall athletics season. After a successful regular season, where 11 of our varsity programs qualified for post-season play, we continue into week three of playoffs.

  • Our Varsity Football team completed their regular season undefeated for the first time in school history, going 8-0 and earning the #1 seed in the Division 1 playoffs. To open the first round of playoffs, the Varsity Football team had a great 48-0 win over Riverhead on Whitman's home turf. Nicholas Bottoni went a perfect 7 for 7 for 210 yards with 3 passing TDs and a rushing TD!  Mikey Phillips had TD catches on back to back drives in the 1st quarter! The Team scored on its first 5 possessions with Brandon Ivy and AJ Evans adding touchdowns!  Evans finished with 78 yards on 7 carries with 2 TDs behind the O-line of Logan Elmore, Diego Romero, Belendjy Geneus, Liam Villanti and Xavier AliTyriek Mays-Mckoy had 2 catches for 84 yards!  Sophomore JD Harrison added his first career varsity touchdown and 72 rushing yards!  The defense pitched their 4th shutout of the season!  The Wildcats host Ward Melville on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm in the Suffolk County Division 1 Semifinals!   • The Boys Cross Country team competed in the Suffolk County Championships at Sunken Meadow.  Six out of the seven Whitman runners ran personal bests on the challenging 5k course.  Congratulations to senior Ryan Hansen for running a time of 18 minutes 29 seconds and to Cross Country runners Ryan Hill, John Adams, Sam Lopez, Mike Coppola, Tom Bass, Porter Chetty, and Emma Kowalczyk for participating in the Section XI Championships.

  • Carly McEntee competed in the Suffolk County Gymnastics Individual Championship meet on Friday and had a successful performance on the floor exercise landing her a spot as an alternate on the State team. The NYS Gymnastics Championship meet will be held March 5th in Buffalo. Congratulations Carly!
  • Congratulations to Girls Varsity swimmer and diver Venus Stewart! Venus placed 9th overall at the Section XI County Diving Championship, scoring 338 points while setting a new school record! Congratulations to the The Girls Swim Team County Qualifiers: Senior captain, Bianca Santaromana along with Isabella Alvear and Maria Petkovits swam personal bests in the 200 Medley and the 400 freestyle relay.  Two of their combined teammates, (Katherine Montefusco and Caelan Clayton) have qualified for NYSPHSAA State Meet and will compete at Ithaca College on 11/19 - 11/20. Nice job ladies!
