We are proud to announce that South Huntington School District has recently been awarded the prestigious Silver Medal by the US News and World Report, in recognition of the United States Best High Schools competition. This reputable competition bases it’s advanced placement and exit scoring against schools across the country. Our high scoring Regents exam results along with our graduation rates and equity in serving diverse student populations as well as those in economic need, have earned Walt Whitman High School the 16th out of 55th spot in Suffolk County ranking.

South Huntington has also been awarded for merit by the Best Communities for Music Education in America organization. This honorable distinction recognizes our district in both its quality of our music programs and the talent of both our teachers and students.

We are also thrilled to announce that our literary magazine, Xanadu, has received the 2020 Columbia University Press Crown Award for Digital Arts Magazine - standing proudly as the only magazine in New York to receive this prestigious honor this year. You can visit Xanadulitmag.com for an up-close look at the wonderful work.

We congratulate our dedicated teachers, rising star students and encouraging parents; and all of whom had a part in making all of these awards and achievements possible!
