The kindergarten classes at Oakwood Primary Center enjoyed participating in a traditional Native American Pow-Wow. Led by music teacher Ms. Pinelli, the children sang various Native American songs like "The Pilgrims Came to America," "The Turkey Trot," and "Hi Yo Is Si Na Yah," a song from the Hopi tribe. With the help of their art teachers, the children made tom-tom drums out of coffee cans that were adorned with Native American symbols.

Classroom teachers taught the children about Native American culture and made Native American headdresses and shirts decorated with picture writing. Parents were invited to enjoy the special show and the students had a great time performing for them, making this event the highlight of everyone’s day.

Happy Thanksgiving to our South Huntington Family!
