Countrywood Principal Mitch Levy and Assistant Principal Kellie Njenga congratulate their Teacher of the Year, Ms. Rose Covington.

Congratulations to Ms. Rose Covington, Countrywood's Teacher of the Year. Ms. Covington started teaching kindergarten at Countrywood in 1997 and has been a "kindergartener" ever since. Rose says she always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She remembers looking up to her elementary school teachers and knew then that this was what she wanted to become. Ms. Covington views Countrywood as her second home and feels truly blessed to work with such a wonderful and caring group of educators who have been family to her over the last 20+ years. Rose takes her job seriously and values the friendships that she has built with colleagues, past and present, as well as former students and their families that she remains close with after all of these years.

Beyond the love and support that Rose provides to the students in her class, she is a valued resource to her colleagues. When asked to describe Ms. Covington, Ms. Wilcox, her partner teacher of many years, described her as detail oriented, dedicated, passionate, hard-working, devoted and a natural kindergarten teacher. Rose spends countless hours before school, after school, during lunch and prep periods meeting with, mentoring and collaborating with her colleagues. Rose is a giver, a doer and a "teacher" in every sense of the word. She leads by example, she leads with her heart and there is no doubt that she has and continues to leave a lasting impression on her students, their families, her colleagues and the entire Countrywood Family. We are proud to call Rose a friend, a colleague and Countrywood's Teacher of the Year!
