The 31st Annual Frank Gugliotta Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament was held over the winter recess at Walt Whitman’s North Gymnasium. After winning the first game of the Gugliotta Basketball tournament against the Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks, the Whitman Varsity Boys Basketball team found themselves up against Jericho's Jayhawks for day 2 of the competition.

Both teams kept spectators on the edge of their seats with much excitement as they tied 58-58 at the end of regulation play. With back and forth penalty shots and impressive 3-pointers, the score stayed close with a tie at the end of each overtime period. After four rousing rounds of overtime game play, the Wildcats fell short 86-83 in the final seconds of the competition.

Junior Mike McIndoo was named to the All Tournament team. He made 16 points and 10 rebound shots in the first game against Cold Spring Harbor and made 36 points and 13 rebounds in the championship game against Jericho. Senior Captain Mike Aloisi had 15 points against Jericho and 21 points against Cold Spring Harbor as well. Despite the tough loss, the Wildcats displayed amazing effort and sportsmanship throughout the two-day tournament and quadruple-overtime game.
