The Walt Whitman Natural Helpers Club is holding their 2nd annual Mental Health Awareness Week from February 3rd through 7th in order to promote acceptance and understanding of mental health issues that impact many students and people in our community.

In order to demonstrate unity behind this message, the club is selling apparel district wide to anyone interested in helping this great cause. One hundred percent of the proceeds from these sales will be donated to the Huntington Branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The club is selling short sleeve and long sleeve shirts, hooded sweatshirts, and jogger sweatpants. Please see a Natural Helper at Whitman or visit this web store: http://waltwhitmanmentalhealthawareness.com/ to purchase the gear!

Additionally, the club will be holding a Mindfulness Monday Night on February 3rd at 6pm in the North Cafeteria. All are welcome to join us for a night of yoga and meditation, any small donations to NAMI at that event would be greatly appreciated.

On Tuesday, we will be having our Take a Break Tuesday, where students and staff are asked to escape their daily grind for one evening and spend time with their families and friends. We are asking any teachers that would like to participate to forgo giving students homework that night to promote the idea of a mental break.

On Wednesday, the Club asks that you wear your Mental Health apparel or the color green to promote unity for mental health awareness.

On Thursday, we will be having a Guest Speaker discussing the issues of cyber bullying and the impact of social media on mental health.

On Friday, we will be holding gratitude Friday and giving thanks to the special students and staff of Walt Whitman High School.

Thank you so much for supporting this cause and promoting Mental Health Awareness!
