Whitman's 2022-23 National Merit Semifinalists Announced District

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. Each year, high school students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Congratulations to Whitman seniors Zahra Choudry, Cassandra Dinulescu and Grayson Slansky who took the 2021 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and met requirements to enter the 2023 National Merit® Scholarship Program, and congratulations to Ned Hunter and Anthony Maida who have qualified as Semifinalists!


Hunter and Anthony are two of approximately 16,000 high school seniors that have qualified as Semifinalists. They have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships to be offered next spring, so stay tuned to find out if Whitman’s outstanding students advance to finalist standings.

Congratulations to Whitman Seniors Grayson Slansky, Zahra Choudry, and Cassandra Dinulescu who took the 2021 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and met requirements to enter the 2023 National Merit® Scholarship Program! From more than 1.3 million program entrants, these high performers from Walt Whitman have shown outstanding academic potential as being among 50,000 of the highest-scoring participants.

Congratulations to Walt Whitman High School Seniors Anthony Maida and Ned Hunter on being named Semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit® Scholarship Program! From the more than 1.3 million program entrants, Ned and Anthony are among 16,000 Semifinalists to have the opportunity to continue in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
