On Sunday, February 5th, Walt Whitman High School hosted the National Dance Alliance (NDA) Whitman Winter East Coast Regional Dance Championships. Hundreds of spectators came out to support their middle school, high school, and even collegiate teams. In addition to Whitman, there were numerous Long Island and Regional schools represented. Our Whitman team, under the direction of Ms. Kiva Boozer, did not disappoint the home crowd by placing in all the divisions they competed in. Congratulations on 4th place finishes in Varsity Jazz (Medium Division), Varsity Game Day (Large Division), and Varsity Kick (Medium Division).
Our Middle School Dance team also competed with the team placing 2nd in the Pom and 2nd in Team Performance.
All of our talented students performed with distinction, adding a special touch of athletic and artistic class to our school community. We also join in thanking the numerous Dance Team parents who labored tirelessly throughout the weekend to bring the prestigious competition to our schools. Of course, our South Huntington family offers special praise and gratitude to Eliot Lonardo and Dairy Queen for sponsoring this year’s show, continuing to show that our school community is supported by local businesses and organizations, as they continue to know the value of these programs. We are so very fortunate to have partners who genuinely care about the quality of our schools.
