Stimson Students Participate and Place in Long Island History Day Competition District

Twenty-two Stimson students competed in the Long Island History Day competition on Sunday, March 26th, as part of the National History Day Program. A total of 595 students presenting 325 projects from Suffolk and Nassau Counties competed in the contest held at Hofstra University. This year’s theme was Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas. Students had the choice of working with a group or as an individual with the options of creating an exhibit, documentary, performance, website, or a research paper.

 

Stimson participants included:

Abi Andreoni, Miles Berman, Ella Brenner, Emily Butterfield, Andie Devinney, Selina Dong, Ethan Ewart, Scarlett Folk, Sydney Henkel, Xavier Keith, Priscilla Kenny, Alexis Koffer, Rehan Naseer, Maeve O’Connor, Cristopher Ortega Menjivar, Ishe Patel, Alexandra Samuel, Rebeca Sorto Alfaro, Ryan Tabibzada, Olivia Tintera, Timothy Treubig, and Hayli Wuss.

 

8th-grader Abi Andreoni placed 4th with her individual exhibit on the Lavender Scare. Abi qualified to advance to the state level competition being held on April 24th at SUNY Oneonta.

 

8th-grader Emily Butterfield placed 3rd for her individual performance on Emilie du Chatelet. Emily is an alternate for the state level competition.
