South Huntington School District is happy to announce the district’s new Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services, and Supervisor of Student Services and Wellness.
Mr. Dan Lombardo began this school year in his new position as Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services. Mr. Lombardo has been with the South Huntington School District since 2014, beginning as Student Services Chairperson and moving to Special Education Supervisor in 2023. He also spent more than 15 years in the classroom as a special education teacher working with students with various disabilities in grades 7 through 12. Dan received his Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from SUNY New Paltz and his Master of Science in Special Education from Dowling College. He holds an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University.
Dan says during his first summer home from college a friend helped him get a job with the Developmental Disabilities Institute’s summer program. He knew after the first day it was what he wanted to do as a career - addressing the education needs of students with varying abilities. “I am looking forward to continuing the great programs we have in the South Huntington School District and working with amazing staff and families to help our students reach their full potential.”
Dr. Christine Voll began this school year in her new position as Supervisor of Student Services and Wellness. She has been with the South Huntington School District since 2006 serving in various capacities as a School Psychologist, CPSE Chair, and Behavior Specialist. Dr. Voll is a New York State licensed psychologist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, Master of Science in School/Community Psychology, and a Doctor of Psychology degree, all from Hofstra University. She received her School District Leader certification from Stony Brook University. In her new position, Dr. Voll will be working closely with the district’s Director of Special Education and Student Services, Dan Lombardo. After working in both the hospital and counseling center settings, Dr. Voll decided to go into School Psychology to have a positive impact on children’s lives. “Whether they are struggling academically or emotionally it is so important for children to have someone to go to for help.”
Congratulations Mr. Lombardo and Dr. Voll!
