Recently, the Board of Education was proud to recognize Taylor Busch, Tatiana Marr, and Julia Fasciano of Girl Scout Troop 954 for earning their Silver Award! The girls joined Troop 954 in 2013 shortly after starting kindergarten. Taylor, Tatiana, and Julia are now freshmen at Walt Whitman High School.

To earn their Silver Award, they started a food drive called "Scratch Out Hunger" to collect non-perishable food items for our school community. They then proposed a Community Garden at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

The space had been used as a playground, but closed during the pandemic in Spring 2021. The project became known as 'Seeds of Hope Community Garden' and has earned the girls their Silver Award, as well as the Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Award.

Great work and congratulations Taylor, Tatiana, and Julia!
