South Huntington School District is thrilled to welcome Ms. Regina Caliendo as District Clerk and Secretary to the Board of Education! Regina has been with the South Huntington School District both as a valued staff member, and as an involved parent, for many years.

Ms. Caliendo began her active involvement in South Huntington as the PTA President for a number of years, initiating and solidifying her commitment to both her family and school community. Ms. Caliendo served as PTA President within Oakwood Primary Center, Birchwood Intermediate, Silas Wood/Stimson and Walt Whitman High School for 8 years and when not acting president, remained involved in the PTA to some capacity. Ms. Caliendo wished to continue that commitment as a district employee when her son David entered Stimson Middle School and it came time for her to rejoin the workforce.

Ms. Caliendo began working for the district in 2016 as a Clerical Substitute in the James Kaden Administrative Offices before filling a permanent position in 2017 in Data Processing. When Ms. Caliendo first joined the offices at JKAO, she was introduced to Laura McLean. The former District Clerk served as a true role model during her 30 years of service, and Ms. Caliendo felt the position suited her and made it her goal to pursue it when the time was right. Ms. Caliendo continued her work within the district, as she became a Senior Office Assistant in the main office of Walt Whitman High School. There, she was responsible for providing the highest level of service to staff, students and their families, while providing administrative support to the principal and assistant principal. Ms. Caliendo held this role from 2018 to 2021 when she accepted the position as Principal Office Assistant in the Office of Curriculum and Instruction.

Working for the Assistant Superintendent at the James Kaden Administrative Offices gave Ms. Caliendo the opportunity to broaden her outreach districtwide to students and families. We are thrilled to have Ms. Caliendo join us again at JKAO to fulfill the role of District Clerk and Secretary to the Board of Education, continuing to serve the community that has provided  both her and her family so much.
