We are so grateful to the Huntington Manor Fire Department for their generous donation to Stimson Middle School! The HMFD graciously donated $5,000 to be put towards a courtyard renewal at Stimson as a thank you for letting the department use the middle school grounds for the annual Fireman’s Fair year after year.

“We're thrilled to have the support of the Huntington Manor Fire Department and the South Huntington School District to help us make some improvements to our courtyard,” shared Stimson Middle School Principal, Mr. Mike Duggan. “Our courtyard is a wonderful and peaceful environment that is used by our academic classes, students eating lunch and many of our Middle School celebrations and events. This year we look to start a gardening club and can't wait to begin making the space more beautiful. We plan on repairing benches, adding more tables for student use, creating more raised garden beds and adding a small pond.”

The outdoor space is used for events during school hours and after school, including the end of the year Bon Voyage celebration for our 8th graders, the annual Halloween party, and also allows classes an outdoor space for learning on nice days.

Special thank you to Chief Brady and the Huntington Manor Fire Department for your generosity in helping beautify Stimson’s courtyard!

The generous donation from the fire department will help the middle school add to the existing outdoor space.

Part of the renewal plan includes the addition of inspirational quotes and poetry; the first coming from South Huntington alum Samantha Carey with her 2016 poem “I Am Stimson.”
