District Welcomes New Teachers for 2020-2021 School Year District

South Huntington Union Free School District would like to warmly welcome our new teachers for the 2020-2021 school year! During this unique academic year, our teachers will be working head on with a new learning model that will offer our students across the district the best education possible. With months of learning ahead of us, we look forward to seeing our new teachers work diligently with students and their families in making this school year productive and meaningful.



Welcome Ms. Jenna Traina to Walt Whitman High School! Ms. Traina will be teaching Algebra and AP Calculus as a first year teacher. She graduated with her Master’s Degree in Math Education from Hofstra University and is looking forward to beginning her teaching career in South Huntington.


Welcome Mr. John Abeltin! Mr. Abeltin graduated from SUNY Oswego and received his Master’s Degree at Stony Brook University. Mr. Abeltin has taught Technology Education at Deer Park High School and Robert Frost Middle School for 34 years and looks forward to continuing to teach technology at Walt Whitman High School.



Welcome Ms. Jillian Casey! With 12 years of teaching experience, Ms. Casey received her BS in Adolescent Education in Social Studies at SUNY Oneonta and her MA in Social Studies Education from Hofstra University. Ms. Casey is looking forward to teaching Global II to her new students at Walt Whitman.



Welcome Ms. Bradie Bohlen! Ms. Bohlen received her BS in Mathematics and MA in Math Education at St. Joseph’s College. Ms. Bohlen is looking forward to being back as one of Walt Whitman’s new math teachers.




Welcome Ms. Kristina Marinaro! Ms. Marinaro received her BA from St. Joseph’s College and MA from Stony Brook University. Ms. Marinaro is excited to be teaching Special Education at Walt Whitman High School.


Welcome Mr. Ray Graham! Mr. Graham began his teaching career after receiving his Master’s Degree at the University of New Hampshire and is looking forward to teaching English at Walt Whitman High School.



Welcome Ms. Tiyana Frank! Ms. Frank graduated from Molloy College with her MS in Secondary Education. Ms. Frank looks forward to joining the science department at Walt Whitman as she will be teaching Biology.



Welcome Ms. Shannon Casey! Ms. Casey pursued her Master's Degree in TESOL and is looking forward to being one of Maplewood’s new ENL teachers.




Welcome Ms. Jessica Corrado! Ms. Corrado has been a practicing Speech Language Pathologist for the past 5 years, holding a BA in Psychology from Binghamton University and a MA in Speech Language Pathology from Hofstra University. Ms. Corrado is excited to be joining the Walt Whitman High School family.



Welcome Ms. Roxanna Czerwiec! Ms. Czerwiec is passionate about all topics encompassed within Biology and looks forward to teaching Living Environment at Walt Whitman High School.




Welcome Mr. James Pineda! Mr. Pineda is a Walt Whitman High School graduate who will be returning as one of Whitman’s new Physics teachers.


Welcome Mr. Ryan Bauer! Mr. Bauer is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and is currently pursuing a Masters at SUNY Oswego. Mr. Bauer looks forward to teaching Business at Walt Whitman High School.


Welcome Ms. Erica Patè! Ms. Patè received her BA in Italian and Art from Hunter College. Ms. Patè earned her Master’s Degree in teaching from Manhattanville College. Ms. Patè looks forward to teaching Italian and Spanish at Walt Whitman High School.
