WHO CAN VOTE?

A person shall be entitled to vote at any school meeting or election for the election of school district officers, and upon all other matters which may be brought before such meeting or election, who is:

  1. A citizen of the United States;
  2. Eighteen years of age;
  3. A resident within the district for a period of thirty days next preceding the meeting or election at which he offers to vote;
  4. No person shall have the right to vote at any school meeting or election who would not be qualified to vote at an election in accordance with the provision of Section 5-106 of the Election Law.

Una persona tendra derecho a votar en cualquier reunion escolar o eleccion para la eleccion de funcionarios del distrito escolar y sabre todos las demas asuntos que puedan presentarse ante dicha reunion o eleccion, que sea:

  1. Un ciudadano de las Estados Unidos;
  2. dieciocho anos de edad;
  3. Un residente dentro del distrito par un periodo de treinta dias inmediatamente anteriores a la reunion o eleccion en la que ofrece votar;

Absentee Ballots
Absentee Ballot Applications may be obtained from the James Kaden Administrative Offices, 60 Weston Street in Huntington Station, or via the district website (www.shufsd.org) or by clicking the links below. Ballots will be issued upon the satisfactory completion and submission of the application form. The deadline for filing an Absentee Ballot Application, if the ballot is to be mailed to the resident, is Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. The deadline for filing an Absentee Ballot Application, if the ballot is to be personally delivered to the resident, is Monday, May 16, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. Absentee Ballots may be issued to third parties representing the voter provided the third party is identified on the Absentee Ballot Application and is able to provide proper identification when picking up the ballot from the Office of the District Clerk. All Absentee Ballots must be filed with the District Clerk by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Boletos do Voto por ausencia
Las solicitudes de boleta de voto ausente se pueden obtener en las oficinas administrativas de James Kaden, ubicadas en 60 Weston Street en Huntington Station, o en el sitio web del distrito (www.shufsd.org) haciendo clic en los enlaces a continuación. Las boletas se emitirán después de completar y enviar satisfactoriamente el formulario de solicitud. Military Absentee Ballot Application/Voting Process

Military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may submit an application for a military ballot. Military voters may designate a preference to receive a military ballot application or military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail in their request for such registration, ballot application or ballot. Military voter ballot application forms must be received in the Office of the District Clerk no later than 5 p.m. on April 21, 2022. No military ballot will be canvassed unless it is (1) received in the Office of the District Clerk before the close of the polls on election day and showing a cancellation mark of the United States postal service or a foreign country's postal service, or showing a dated endorsement of receipt by another agency of the United States government; or (2) received by the Office of the District Clerk by no later than 5 p.m. on election day and signed and dated by the military voter and one witness thereto, with a date which is associated to be not later than the day before the election.

Proceso de votacion/Solicitud de boleta militar en ausencia

Los votantes militares que sean votantes calificados del distrito escolar pueden presentar una solicitud para una boleta electoral militar. Los votantes militares pueden designar una preferencia para recibir una solicitud de boleta electoral militar o una boleta electoral militar par correo, transmision par fax o correo electr6nico en su solicitud de registro, solicitud de boleta electoral o boleta electoral. Los formularios de solicitud de boletas para votantes militares deben recibirse en la Oficina del Secretario del Distrito no mas tarde de las 5:00 p. m. el 21 de abril de 2022. No se escrutara ninguna boleta militar a menos que (1) se reciba en la Oficina del Secretario del Distrito antes del cierre de las urnas el dia de las elecciones y muestre una marca de cancelacion del servicio postal de las Estados Unidos o de un pais extranjero servicio postal, o que muestre un endoso de recibo fechado por otra agencia del gobierno de las Estados Unidos; o (2) recibido par la Oficina del Secretario del Distrito no mas tarde de las 5 p.m. el dia de la eleccion y firmado y fechado por el votante militar y un testigo, con una fecha que se asocie para no ser posterior al dia anterior a la eleccion.
