The Governor signed into Law today (April 27, 2021) §5545 that provides the definition of “illness” on the Absentee Ballot to include, but not be limited to, “instances where a voter is unable to appear personally at the polling place of the school district in which they are a qualified voter because there is a risk of contracting or spreading a disease that may cause illness to the voter or to other members of the public.”

Therefore, as Part A of the APPLICATION FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT speaks to being “a patient in a hospital or unable to appear personally at the polling place on such day because of illness or physical disability,” it will also include the risk of contracting or spreading a disease that may cause illness to the voter or to other members of the public. Should this be your reasoning for securing an APPLICATION FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT, please check Box A and write the word: COVID next to Box A. Your APPLICATION FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT will be processed accordingly upon receipt.

Should you have questions/concerns, please email Mrs. McLean, District Clerk, at: lmclean@shufsd.org or call 631-812-3071 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
