Special Education and Social Studies teachers Ms. Jen Hebert and Ms. Deana Morgan presented recently at the 39th Annual LICSS Conference at the Melville Marriott. The theme of the conference was Critical Thinking and Civic Responsibility, and these two South Huntington educators attended to share with other teachers about the concepts of The Flipped Classroom: Technology Integration in Global History and Geography.

The Flipped Classroom places responsibility for learning in the hands of students. It encourages students to take an active part in their education and promotes curiosity and exploration into topics in Global History. With so many educational technologies available, Flipped Classroom lessons are just one way to integrate technology into classroom lessons. Teachers Ms. Deanna Morgan and Ms. Jennifer Hebert presented a workshop session to provide other educators with the framework for designing Flipped Classroom lessons that can be differentiated, as well as lesson plans and resources that have been successfully used in their own classes.

With 600 people attending this conference, 45 enrolled in their seminar to learn more about how to integrate The Flipped Classroom within their own classes. The seminar was geared towards educators for grades K-12 and all who attended came out inspired with new techniques to share with their students. Thank you Ms. Hebert and Ms. Morgan for representing our WWHS Social Studies department at the LICSS conference!
