As a result of going undefeated in league play and winning their division, the Girls Varsity Tennis Team were named the 19 seed in the county team playoffs.  On Wednesday, the team traveled to the 14 seed Connetquot for a first round matchup.  Whitman was able to upset Connetquot 4-3 to move on to the second round.  This win was the team's first playoff win in over a decade.

It was a close match with Whitman ultimately sweeping all of the singles matches. Isabella Dinulescu started the team off with an impressive 6-4 6-0 win at first singles. Cassandra Dinulescu continued the strong play with a 6-3 6-3 win at second doubles. At third singles, Kayla Sakayan won in dominating fashion 6-1 7-5.  Chelsea Carino, the team's fourth singles player, controlled the match and won easily 6-1 6-4.

Impressive efforts were turned in by the doubles teams of Katie Miata and Emma Graff, Lauren Gotard and Bridget Kenney, and Subhana Zafar and Jillian Crowley. Each team played well, but ultimately came up a little short. They will look to rebound in the next round of the playoffs. The team will play Islip next, the 3 seed with hopes of pulling off another upset.
