Congratulations to sophomore Thomas Baranowski who was named one of the Long Island Young Scholars of Mathematics by the Institute of Creative Problem Solving for Gifted and Talented Students at SUNY Old Westbury. The college offers sessions of this math program every Saturday to inspire creative problem solving to students across the island. The announcement came out in the Sunday, December 2nd edition of Newsday in the LI Schools section and after speaking with Thomas, he feels proud of himself for making it to this level of achievement in math. “I like learning, especially math,” Thomas shared as he tells us about the program and his involvement at Whitman. Thomas is a member of Mathletes and plays on the Varsity Tennis team. He is also interested in joining the National Art Honor Society and Philosophy Club. As a sophomore, Thomas will begin looking into colleges next year and anticipates that he will continue coursework in math and science while also pursuing his interest in computers.

Way to Go Thomas!
