Chromebook Repair Process

As part of the district’s one-to-one initiative, students in grades 6 through 11 were previously assigned and have been utilizing Chromebooks. To assist with trouble-shooting and servicing these district-provided devices while school is not in session an assistance program will begin Thursday, March 19, 2020.

In the event that assistance is needed with a student’s district-provided Chromebook, please use the following contact information to either call or email with a detailed description of the device’s operating status.

Hours of operation: daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.(provided that JKAO remains available to employees and public)

 

Process details: 

  •   Attempts to troubleshoot remotely will be made if possible

  •  If troubleshooting remotely is not an option, an appointment will be scheduled for the student/parent to bring the Chromebook into the immediate front area of the main lobby at the James Kaden Administrative Offices (JKAO),60 Weston Street. (We will minimize person to person contact to adhere to current guidance)

  •  Appointments will be 15 minutes maximum in length and scheduled 20 minutes apart

  •  A Technician will look at and decide whether the Chromebook needs to be sent out for repair or if it can be fixed in house. If the Chromebook needs to be sent out, an available loaner Chromebook will be assigned to the student. Repairs may take up to two weeks from start to finish

  • When completed we will call or email the parent/student to come back and pick up the repaired device and return the loaner

  • In the event that face-to-face service is no longer available due to mandatory State regulations, assistance would still be offered remotely via the email address
