MRS. BOLGER~GLOBAL STUDIES 1& 1H
COURSE REQUIREMENTS

1. ATTENDANCE: Students are expected to be in class on time each day.  If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get all notes and assignments from a friend.  You are responsible for all material covered in class.

2. TEXTBOOKS: Keep textbooks AT HOME unless you are told to bring them in.

3. MATERIALS:  ·Three-ring loose-leaf binder & loose-leaf paper
·Dividers-You will need two sections: Notes & Homework

4. HOMEWORK:  Assignment sheets will be distributed weekly.  Homework assignments are numbered.  Homeworks will be assigned and checked daily.  Unless you are absent, homework assignments will not be accepted after two days. Two missing home works are allowed without penalty.  If ALL homework assignments are completed 2 Points will be added to your quarter grade.

5. QUIZZES: Announced and unannounced quizzes will be given.  If all quizzes are taken the two lowest quiz grades will be dropped.

6. EXAMS: Full period exams will be given during each quarter.  If you miss an exam due to illness, it is your responsibility to schedule a make-up exam (not during class).  Cutting class the day of the exam or failure to show for a make-up will result in a grade of zero.  There will be a mid-term and final exam.  Students who maintain a 90 average will be exempt from the final.

7. PROJECTS:  There will be a minimum of one project per quarter.

8. RESEARCH PAPER: You will be required to do a research paper.

9. QUARTER GRADES will be based on:
·Exams     ·Projects/Research paper     ·Quizzes     ·Homework     ·Class Work

10.  REGENTS:  The 10th Grade Regents Exam includes all of the 9th grade material.  KEEP YOUR NOTEBOOK!
 

 Dear Parents/Guardians:
 I am pleased to have your child in my Global Studies I class.  I look forward to having a positive and productive school year.  My goal as your child’s teacher is to have a safe and orderly classroom, where meaningful discussions will be held.  In order to accomplish this, a structured discipline policy is necessary.
CLASSROOM RULES:
1.  Students must arrive on time for class.
2. Students must be prepared for class.
3. Students must keep objects, hands and feet to themselves.
4. Students must raise their hands when they want to speak.
5. Students will show RESPECT to everyone in the room!

NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES:
1. First offense: Verbal warning.
2. Second offense: Student must stay one-minute after class.
3. Third offense: Student will have a five-minute lunch detention.
4. Fourth offense: One-minute after class and parent notification.
5. Fifth offense: Student will be sent to the discipline office and an administrator and parent will be notified.

POSITIVE RECOGNITION:
 To promote positive behavior, students will be recognized for their admirable efforts.  Students will be selected for Student of the Week and positive notes and phone calls will be made.
