COMMUNICATIONSBULLETINS The principals and the PTA of each school issue bulletins at the beginning of the school year containing information important to parents. Throughout the school year bulletins will be issued regarding any information considered to be important with regard to building and District procedures. The District newsletter, Spotlight, is published regularly during the school year by the Board of Education, and information concerning the educational program, budget, curriculum innovation and administrative changes is provided in this publication. PUBLICATIONS AND MEDIA Public information is coordinated through the Superintendent of Schools’ office. Throughout the school year, the District publishes a community newsletter, Spotlight, along with an annual budget brochure and press releases to the local and regional media; these serve to keep District residents informed about special events, changing programs and newsworthy activities involving students and staff. Public information concerns and questions should be directed to the Superintendent at 812-3070. WEBSITE INFORMATION The District’s website is at www.shufsd.org. The South Huntington School District Web Site is a Newsday.com Cool Site Award winner. Newsday had this to say about our website: extensive menu options offer site visitors quick access to district and community information. A parent can easily access their child's school as well as the week's lunch menu. Teacher eBoards take you inside the classroom featuring class projects, curriculum outlines and web sites to enhance the curriculum, weekly assignments, reading suggestions and some great WebQuests. "Spotlight", the district newspaper, is a wonderful feature with district-wide news, PTA info and meetings, sports news, and a look at the latest happenings at all the schools.
