A special thank you to all of our South Huntington family who came together to make Homecoming such a tremendous success. The amount of school pride shown by faculty, students and community members was wonderful and it was inspiring to see students of all grades and ages, as well as parents and community members from across generations, taking part in our annual ceremonies and festivities.

Homecoming kicked off last Friday with an energetic pep rally that brought together Whitman’s sports teams, students and faculty after a highly participated Spirit Week. With performances by Whitman’s Dance and Step Teams, our Wildcats were ready to start the weekend. The annual Homecoming Festival and Bonfire began shortly after, where students and their families were able to enjoy carnival food, fun games, and sweet prizes amongst friends and peers. After the festival, the thrilling bonfire blazed high in the Senior parking lot that warmed spectators before heading to the field for the always exciting Powder Puff football game. With a great game between the Senior and Junior girls and an especially entertaining half-time show, last Friday evening was an eventful beginning to the pride filled weekend.

The festivities continued into Saturday for our Homecoming Parade, where class floats, scout troops and community groups flooded the streets with Wildcat Pride. It was wonderful to see so many students and faculty with their families coming out to enjoy the early Autumn evening. At the conclusion of the parade was the always-anticipated football game that brought this great weekend to a finish. The Wildcats kept the score close, but it was Patchogue-Medford who took back the lead in the fourth quarter with a final score of 41-38. Amazing runs made by #2 Valen Richardson and #6 Timari Laster had our bleachers full of standing spectators and cheering on lookers that kept the energy of the game high all throughout.

Thank you to all of the clubs, advisors, and faculty who made Homecoming 2019 so successful and memorable. Go Wildcats!
