Our Maplewood students couldn’t be anymore excited for their first day of school!

Summer vacation has officially ended as today marks the first day for the 2019-2020 school year. Our seniors took to the tradition of being early risers on their first day, joining together on Walt Whitman’s turf field to mark the beginning of their final chapter in South Huntington. As the seniors prepare for their last year as Wild Cats, kindergarteners and their parents continue the cycle by taking their first steps into Countrywood and Oakwood Primary Centers.

As is customary in South Huntington, our new kindergarten students ride the bus for the first time accompanied by their parents, making it a smooth transition for moms, dads, and students alike. The staff at both Oakwood and Countrywood Primary Centers provided a seamless and comfortable morning as our kindergarten students with parents in tow exited their school busses and eagerly headed to their classrooms to meet their teachers for what will surely be an important and fun beginning to their educational career.

“We are so excited to welcome our students, staff, and parents back for another exciting school year,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dave Bennardo. “South Huntington is a district on the rise and our people remain the magic of our success. We look forward to watching this school year progress as a rich new chapter in our district history unfolds”

Welcome Back Students and Staff!
