The South Huntington School District is excited to announce our line-up of new teachers joining us this coming 2019-2020 school year. Please help us in welcoming those teachers who will be joining the South Huntington learning family and playing an important and impactful role for our students district-wide.

Welcome to Walt Whitman High School…
Mr. Ricky Scarabino will join the Walt Whitman Special Education Department after years of successful experience at the Academy of Medical Technology and Half Hollow Hills School District. Mr. Scarabino worked at Half Hollow Hills as a Teacher’s Assistant and has taught special education for students with special needs at the Henry Viscardi School. He has experience teaching at Far Rockaway High School for the New York City DOE for 4 years and was the Transition Coordinator, assisting students in post-grade development. Mr. Scarabino will be teaching special education Social Studies for global and government/economics at Walt Whitman High School starting this fall.
Mr. Ryan Schwabe, who holds prestigious degrees in both Chemistry and Adolescent Education, will be joining our high school science department. Mr. Schwabe is a true student of his craft who has a reputation for both scholarship and student-centered instruction. Mr. Schwabe has experience in the Massapequa School District and will now bring his talents to Walt Whitman High School and help our science department flourish and grow.

Welcome to Stimson Middle School…
Mr. Emilio Rovalino holds degrees from the Aaron Copland School of Music and Pacific Union College, and has teaching experience at the collegiate level. In 2016 Mr. Rovalino was a teaching intern at Valley Vibes Orchestra and was a senior administrative assistant at Brookhaven Art and Music from 2011 to 2019. Mr. Rovalino comes to South Huntington as an accomplished musical performance major, and will now teach choir at Stimson Middle School. Mr. Rovalino was quickly swept up in the South Huntington spirit, and looks forward to add his skills to our district team.
Mr. Christopher Morill is a recent graduate from Stony Brook University’s Master of Arts in Teaching Earth Science Program. Last school year, Mr. Morill began teaching at Stimson Middle School in January. This will be his first full year of teaching within the district and he cannot wait to meet his students and see what the school year will bring!
Ms. Raquel Kaufman was a substitute teacher at Kings Park High School this past year and taught summer school at Freeport High School. Ms. Kaufman is excited to be a part of the South Huntington community and looks forward to teaching special education at Stimson Middle School.
Mr. Christopher Coward is dual certified in Special Education and Social Studies and will be working in an inclusion classroom at Stimson Middle School this fall, helping to modify lessons for special education students. Mr. Coward is a volunteer firefighter in Bay Shore and is looking forward to joining the South Huntington community this fall.

Welcome to Silas Wood…
Ms. Patricia Stuart holds a myriad of degrees and instructional certifications, which have expertly prepared her for the work as a key educator in our 6th Grade Center. Ms. Stuart was a 4-year reading leave replacement teacher in West Babylon and spent 1 year as a part time reading teacher in Wantagh. She is certified to teach reading in childhood education B-6 and special education B-6 and the members of our learning family look forward to having her as part of the district instructional team.

Welcome to Maplewood and Birchwood…
Ms. Samantha Servedio is a dynamic educator who will be joining our Maplewood team. Ms. Servedio has experience teaching second grade from 2017 to 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic School and has worked as a Teacher’s Assistant in an inclusion classroom at Countrywood in South Huntington. Ms. Servedio will be teaching 5th grade Dual Language at Maplewood while also coaching the JV Girls Soccer and Lacrosse teams. Ms. Servedio is excited to be working in the community she grew up in and is happy to be able to give back.
Ms. Kristen Ging has been teaching for 15 years. Born and raised in the Huntington area, Ms. Ging is thrilled to be teaching in the South Huntington School District. Ms. Ging is married with her 2 sons and her dog, Murphy, and enjoys traveling, the arts, and spending time with her family and friends. We look forward to Ms. Ging joining us in the Resource Room at both Maplewood and Birchwood’s this school year!
